Roath Park Primary School has been praised by Estyn for its strong culture of care, high quality teaching, and the positive attitudes pupils show toward learning.
Inspectors found that the school provides a “welcoming and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued.” The report highlights exemplary behaviour, strong progress in communication, reading and mathematics, and the highly effective support offered to pupils with additional learning needs.
Estyn also commended the school’s nurturing ethos, effective leadership and the positive relationships which underpin daily life. The report states that leaders place “a strong emphasis on developing respectful relationships, kindness and emotional awareness,” helping pupils to flourish both academically and personally.

Headteacher Lewis Fitzgerald said: “This outcome is the result of hard work to establish positive relationships and successful collaboration between pupils, staff and the wider school community. We are proud to be a diverse school where every child feels like they belong. I am truly delighted for everyone connected to our school.”
Estyn made one recommendation: to further develop opportunities for pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and the beliefs of others through the curriculum and daily collective worship. The school will now address this in their action plan.
