Richard and Nadya, joined by their baby son Luca, were among the first to try it – and their visit offered a charming glimpse into what guests can expect.
First Impressions
Arriving at 11am (an early afternoon by any standard), the family were immediately struck by the hotel’s sense of grandeur. Inside, the Lakeview Lounge & Bar feels light, spacious and elegant, and their reserved table overlooked the lake – an unexpected and striking backdrop that adds instant serenity to the experience.
Despite the quiet atmosphere at that time of day, it proved ideal for a relaxed visit, particularly with a little one in tow.
What’s on the Menu?
Afternoon tea is beautifully presented across tiers and a separate savoury plate:
Top Tier – Sweet Treats
Blueberry cheesecake, chocolate opera slice, lemon meringue, raspberry choux lollipop and macarons. The cheesecake and lollipop were particular standouts – indulgent without being overly sweet.
Middle Tier – Traditional Favourites
Homemade butter scones and Welsh cakes served with strawberry jam and clotted cream. As any afternoon tea enthusiast knows, the scone is the true test – and these delivered in every way.
Lower Tier – Open Sandwiches
Ham, tomato & mustard, egg & chive mayonnaise, shredded cheddar with onion marmalade, and tuna mayonnaise with cucumber. Presented on open baguette slices, they offered a refreshing visual twist and extra texture.
Savoury Plate
Homemade pork sausage roll and cheddar, mozzarella & red onion pastry swirl – warm, satisfying and a delightful way to begin.
Drinks, Service & Atmosphere
While the tea selection was appealing, the couple opted for coffee. Although the cappuccino didn’t quite impress, service more than made up for it. Their server, Sally, was attentive, friendly and genuinely welcoming – setting the tone for an unhurried and enjoyable experience.
Service was prompt, presentation impeccable, and the calm setting ensured a peaceful visit.
