Cardiff Dogs Home has achieved its most prestigious recognition to date at the RSPCA PawPrints Awards 2025, securing Gold in Kennelling and the newly introduced Platinum Award for Stray Dog Services.
The Platinum accolade – reserved for organisations that have consistently achieved Gold status for five or more consecutive years – highlights the Home’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
Cabinet Member with responsibility for Cardiff Dogs Home, Cllr Norma Mackie, said:
“The team at Cardiff Dogs Home, supported by our incredible volunteers and partner charity The Rescue Hotel, continue to set the standard for animal welfare.
“Achieving Platinum for Stray Dog Services and Gold for Kennelling is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects years of dedication.
“Every dog that comes through our doors deserves the very best care, and these awards show that’s exactly what they receive.”
PawPrints Awards celebrate councils and public bodies that go above and beyond statutory requirements to deliver exceptional care for animals.

Cardiff Dogs Home has received at least one RSPCA PawPrints Award every year since the scheme first launched in 2008.
A major kennel refurbishment programme is currently underway at Cardiff Dogs Home. The refurbishment aims to create a more comfortable and enriching environment for the dogs and further improve standards of care in the future.
